Street Fighter's New Trailer Puts Ryu and Ken's Rivalry First
The latest Street Fighter trailer brings the World Warrior Tournament, its ensemble, and the Ryu-Ken conflict into sharper focus.

Trend snapshot
Google Trends' U.S. Trending Now feed listed “street fighter movie” as an active query with more than 10,000 searches and a 300% increase when Stellar checked it on September 2. That reading identifies an unusual acceleration in searches, not a lifetime popularity ranking or proof that every search came from the same event.
What changed
Capcom's Japanese movie team unveiled a new full trailer during the first stop of the film's World Warrior promotional tour in Shinjuku. The footage puts estranged fighters Ryu and Ken at the center, while Chun-Li's invitation to the World Warrior Tournament opens the door to the larger ensemble and the conspiracy behind the competition.
The movie is set in 1993 and is directed by Kitao Sakurai. Andrew Koji plays Ryu, Noah Centineo plays Ken, and Callina Liang plays Chun-Li. Capcom continues to list a worldwide theatrical release for October 16, 2026.
What the trailer needs to prove
Recognizable moves and a deep character roster can generate the first burst of excitement, but the Ryu-Ken relationship is the more important promise. Their estrangement gives the tournament a personal line through the spectacle: each fight can change a friendship instead of functioning only as a reference to the games.
The remaining question is tonal control. The material needs room for the series' colorful personalities without turning every appearance into an introduction. This trailer suggests the film is using the tournament as its organizing spine, which may be the cleanest way to make a very large cast legible.
